STERILAB DRYWALL INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Use a standard cartridge gun to use this STERILAB DPC CREME cartridge.
For dpc treatment to be effective the correct amount of dpc emulsion must be used. Drill 12mm holes, drill at horizontal centres not greater than 120mm centres. The depth of hole depends on the thickness of the brick. See the tabulation shown below. For all other walls the depth of hole should be to within 40mm of opposite face. In all cases drill horizontally, directly in to the motor course.
12mm holes required for various thickness of brick
WALL THICKNESS 4.5”(110MM) 9”(190MM) 13.5”(310MM) 18”(440MM)
Distance of holes 120mm 120mm 120mm 120mm
Coverage 1 tube(330mls) 3.7 meters 1.8 meter 1.1 meters 0.8 meters
PREPARATION
Remove skirting boards and plaster to expose the target, and identify the motor course
to be treated. Measure the thickness of each wall to be treated. Set the depth gauge of the drill or
apply tape or mark the drill bit in order to identify the correct drilling depth.
CAVITY WALLS
To be drill/treated from one side in a single operation or if preferred each leaf may be treated
separately. If you want to carry out treatment from one side drill completely through the selected
mortar course ,allow the drill bit to pass across the cavity and then drill the other leaf of brickwork to a depth of 90mm. Always ensure that the cavity is clear before treatment.
SOLID BRICK WALLS
In all cases solid brick walls may be drilled and treated from one side only in a single operation. As
previously mentioned drill the selected mortar course at the prescribed centres to the appropriate depth.
STONE AND RUBBLE INFILL WALL
As far as practically possible follow the motor course at the selected level. The variable thickness of
stone wall and the possibility rubble infill will impede the drilling of injection holes. If this is the case
it will be necessary to drill 50% of the wall thickness from both side to the same height.
Alternatively drill additional holes adjacent to the obstruction and ensure that the correct amount of
Sterilab dpc emulsion is injected.
INJECTION
Insert the applicator gun to the full depth of predrilled hole, squeeze the trigger of the gun and back
fill to within 1 cm of the surface. All drilled holes should either be plugged or pointed.
REPLASTERING. A plaster under coat of sand ,lime and cement proportions 4:1:1 with a salt
retardant additive should be applied 12 mm thick and a plaster finish using a water proofer.
STERILAB DPC CREME
THE ABOVE IMAGE 1 SHOWS DRILLING 12MM HOLES, 120 MM CENTRES. THE DEPTH OF HOLES SHOULD BE 15MM FROM BACK OF BRICK. MINIMUM 150 MM ABOVE GROUND LEVEL.
INSERT THE APPLICATOR TO THE FULL LENGTH OF THE HOLE AND SQUEEZE THE TRIGGER AND BACK FILL THE HOLE TO WITHIN 1 CM OF THE SURFACE . ANY OVERSPILL ON THE BRICKWORK MUST BE CLEANED IMMEDIATLEY WITH SOAPY WATER. WHEN TREATING CAVITY WALL FROM ONESIDE MAKE SURE THAT THE HOLES IN EACH LEAF ARE FILLED.
ALL DRILLED HOLES SHOULD BE EITHER PLUGGED OR POINTED.
